Dr. Burke was born in Pocatello, Idaho. He is a Gulf War veteran, who served in the US Navy aboard the USS Long Beach, CGN-9.
After his military service, he attended Idaho State University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree. His Doctorate of Dental Medicine was awarded in 2005 at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Burke then received his Medical Degree and General Surgery certificate from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.
Education and Experience
Dr. Burke completed his six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University, New Orleans where he was trained in full-scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. After graduation, he made El Paso his home and formed West Texas Maxillofacial Surgery.
He has published three book chapters and enjoys incorporating technology into surgery.
For his charitable work Dr Burke was awarded the Frist Humanitarian award from HCA hospitals and the 2021 Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Burke is the President of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an Alternate Delegate for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Locally, Dr. Burke is the Department Chair, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric/Hospital Dentistry at El Paso Children’s Hospital. He is a Past President of the El Paso District Dental Society. In 2018, Dr. Burke co-founded the cleft and craniofacial clinic at FEMAP Hospital in Juarez, Mexico.
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Expertise
In addition to tooth extraction and dental implant treatment, Dr. Burke enjoys full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His clinical focus is Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery, Orthognathic (jaw moving) Surgery, Facial Trauma, Facial Reconstruction, and adult and pediatric Benign Pathology Treatment.
Dr. Burke also provides conservative and surgical treatment for Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders. In October 2016 Dr. Burke became the first Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in this region to be recognized as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
Outside the Office
Recreationally, he spends his time reading, fishing, and enjoying time with his wife, three sons, and two daughters on their small farm.
